PROGRAMS
KARATE
J.A.K.S. offers classes for adults, the handicapable, self defense seminars, and a yearly Martial Arts Camp. J.A.K.S. black belts and under black belt students are very active at tournaments all across the United States in forms, weapons, and sparring competition. We offer effective self defense and street fighting technique as well as encourage self discipline, self control, and increased self esteem.
KICKBOXING
The West Shore Kickboxing Club offers fighters another dimension in fighting by providing the opportunity to participate in kickboxing. The club has organized and promoted over 60 kickboxing events, under the sanctioning of the Keystone International Kickboxing Association (KIKA). These shows have drawn domestic and international competitors.**
BOXING
Sanctioned by the United States Amateur Boxing Federation (USA Boxing), the West Shore Boxing Club has been actively involved in amateur boxing since 1990. Each year, the club enters fighters in the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Tournament and other regional tournaments. The West Shore Boxing Club has produced both State Golden Gloves and Police Athletic League National Tournament (PAL Nationals) Champions.**
AIKIDO
Aikido is offered as a supplimentation to any of our martial arts programs or can be taken on it's own, promoting controlled relaxation, flexibility, and endurance with less emphasis on strength training.

**There is no pressure for an individual to compete in either boxing or kickboxing. Many students of the boxing & kickboxing club work out only to stay in shape, while at the same time learning how to better defend themselves. Sparring is NOT mandatory. Students will be evaluated and approved if they interested in sparring. Thanks to Tae-Bo, the general public is now more aware of the tremendous aerobic workout that both boxing and kickboxing offer. Unlike Tae-Bo and other “karate” or “kickboxing” workouts taught at various gyms as aerobics, the West Shore Boxing & Kickboxing Club teaches students how to throw real punches and real kicks, and how to apply them in real life situations.
